Low-emission zone in Pforzheim

The low-emission zone of Pforzheim, shown on the map with orange, is relatively small compared to the size of the city. Only in the center an emissions sticker is required. Most residential areas and business parks, some outside the map, are not part of the low-emission zone. Do keep in mind though that the B10 and the B294 both lie within the zone. If you want to pass by Pforzheim without having to buy an emissions sticker, you can use the A8 instead. On this highway that lies 2 kilometers north of the city a sticker is not required.
Parking outside the low-emission zone
If your vehicle is not eligible for an emissions sticker, it is fairly easy to park outside the low-emission zone of Pforzheim. Your best option is the parking garage (A on the map) near the train station from where you can simply walk into the city center. If you approach Pforzheim from the south, you can try the parking lot at the Gesellscher Park (B), but you will have to walk a bit more.
Which emissions sticker do you need in Pforzheim?
At first all colors of the German emissions sticker were allowed in the low-emission zone of Pforzheim, but since 2013 the green sticker is required. Without this sticker or if you have one of the other colors, you risk a fine of €100.
Where can you buy the German emissions sticker?

It is also possible to buy the sticker while on the road in Germany, but this takes a bit more effort. You need to find a vehicle inspection company such as TÜV or DEKRA. The sticker is not for sale at gas stations along the highway, though some larger car dealerships may be able to help you out. Make sure you have your vehicle registration certificate with you and ask for an Umweltplakette in German. Also look up the opening hours beforehand, especially if you are traveling during the weekend.
What is there to see and do in Pforzheim?

Unlike in most other German cities, the historical architecture of Pforzheim was not rebuilt after the bombardments of the Second World War. Instead, you will find a city center with modern architecture. Unfortunately, this means that Pforzheim is not a city famous for its tourist attractions. It is a good destination for some shopping if you are on holiday in the Black Forest though.
