Map of the low-emission zone in Neuss

map: Umweltzone in Neuss

On the map above the low-emission zone of Neuss is colored orange. It was introduced on 15 February 2010 and is a lot smaller than the low-emission zone of for example Düsseldorf, which lies on the other side of the river Rhine. Only the city center of Neuss is part of the low-emission zone. In the surrounding residential areas, the harbor and the industrial areas to the east, an emissions sticker is not necessary.

The roads that form the border of the low-emission zone are not part of it. These are the Düsseldorfer Straße, the Theodor-Heusz-Platz, the Gielenstraße, the Schorlemerstraße, the Dreikönigenstraße, the Schillerstraße, An der Obererft, the Selikumer Straße, the Europadamm, the Hessentordamm, the Batteriestraße and the Rheintorstraße.

Parking outside the low-emission zone

If you have an older vehicle that is not eligible for the emissions sticker or if you were too late to still buy one, you can park outside the low-emission zone and then continue your way on foot. One possibility would be parking lot of the horse racing track (A on the map) from where you can walk to the Münsterplatz in the center of Neuss. If you need to be on the other side of the center, you could park at the Edeka supermarket (B) along the Gielenstraße (L380).

Which emissions sticker do you need in Neuss?

The green emissions sticker

You need the green emissions sticker for Neuss, which is the same color as is required in almost all other German low-emission zones. If you do not have the green sticker on your windscreen, you will risk a fine of €100.

Where can you buy the German emissions sticker?

While you can buy the sticker in Neuss itself, we recommend you buy it before you reach the city. That way you will not accidentally drive into the low-emission zone. You can buy the sticker anywhere in Germany at vehicle inspection companies such as A.T.U and DEKRA. Make sure you have your vehicle registration certificate with you. In German the emissions sticker is called Umweltplakette. Useful to know is that during the weekend, many places that sell the sticker are open only on Saturday mornings.
