map: Umweltzone in Marburg

The low-emission zone of Marburg can be seen on the map above. Not only the old city center, but also almost all residential areas and the villages Wehrda, Marbach and Ockerhousen lie within the zone. A few suburbs south of the center as well as the industrial and business areas to the north and south of Marburg are not part of the zone. An emissions sticker is not required here.

Exceptions

If you don’t need to be in Marburg itself, but only want to pass through the city, then you can use the B3. On this road, indicated with a blue line on the map, an emissions sticker is not required as long as you do not leave the road to enter the city. You will not receive a fine on the B3.

Parking outside the low-emission zone

Even if you just want to visit Marburg, then this is possible without an emissions sticker. If you park at the Media Markt (A on the map) right next to the B3 or at the parking terrain called Universitätsparkplatz (B) immediately on the other side of the B3, a sticker is also not required. While these parking lots are intended to give you access to the shopping center and the university, it will only take 10 to 15 minutes to reach the historical city center from here.

What is there to see and do in Marburg?

Marburg

Marburg may not be a very famous city outside of Germany, but there is a lot to see and do. First of all, there is the medieval castle that towers high above the historical city. It was built as a residence for the Landgraves of Marburg. The Elisabethkirche, the oldest Gothic church in Germany, is also worth seeing, as are the numerous half-timbered houses and other buildings in the center. The Philipps-Universiteit from 1527 was the first protestant university in the world.
